Sometimes you hear people say of an election that it is the most critical we have ever faced. I believed that in 2000. And again in 2004. Well, I was right, wasn't I, fellow citizens of The United States of Torture? The United States of Debt, of Oligarchy, of Theocracy?
Well, guess what, folks? That was tiddlywinks. This is the most critical election we have ever faced. Today's Republicans do not learn from their mistakes. Losing sends them into a temper tantrum. But achieving power does not satisfy them. Whatever the situation, they have only one plan: Double down on the crazy.
I have become obsessed. I am obsessed with people who are nominally intelligent and rational, but who run eagerly to the polls to vote for the gibbering droolers who currently run the Republican Party. There must be some way to get through to them.
But how?
